JUST LIKE A DOG

So I haven’t been writing here enough. Here is the reason: I’ve been working “LIKE A DOG” in new york. Lifting things and moving walls and going on errands. You know, things that dogs could never do. I’ve been neglecting my friends for the sake of FABULOUS MONEY.
I work here at this photography studio. One of the people I work with is called “WILLIE”. He is an immigrant from Grenada. Here are some thing he has told me:

“I see this Olympic trials on TV with divers. When I was a boy, if I had been given the opportunities of some of these people, I’m sure I could have been an Olympic diver. In Grenada we used to dive in a river basin, throwing mangos to the bottom and whoever could dive down to get them, bringing them back up in his teeth, was the winner. They used to call me the fish! That’s how good I was!”

Here is an R&B song he was singing to himself while sweeping up. I’ve never heard it before: “Girl.. you so beautiful… I would commit suicide for you, girl…”
